BEWARE: Halifax Account Phishing

Just got a phishing email from the following:

http://itpec.org/itpeccx7direct2h%60alifax.ie/Login.aspx.htm?login.online.halifax.ie/Login.aspx

Does this mean that the ITPEC organisation in Asia is responsible?
I dunno, but whatever you do, DO NOT enter your details into this FAKE login page!!

  1. Nice one for the post. I was suspicious from the beginning. Apart from the fact that I don't have an account with Halifax :P I noticed the link marked "click here to cancel" was directing to a dodgy looking address i.e. http://itpec.org/itpecoil0direct2h`alifax.ie/ .
The email was sent from: "Halifax (acc.suspd@halifax.ie)" with the heading "Your account termination is being processed". I am very curious to know how they managed to get my email address. Have we both been visiting the same sites? Also, is there somewhere we can report this kind of mishap?
Hopefully others will be clever enough to search before clicking the link and find this entry online.
    Please excuse the long post.
    Over 'n' out!‏

  2. Hi Anonymous reader, don't know if you'll see this reply comment. Halifax actually request that you do not follow the link and that you instead forward the phishing email to cfu@halifax.ie and then delete the email immediately afterwards.

The email I got came to my Gmail account so I just reported it for phishing.

I hope that helps them in tracking down these guys. Glad I helped you.
